imperative

imperative (imperativ): a sentence type typically used to make commands. E.g. Sit down. Give an analysis of this poem. Don't move until you've finished. An imperative sentence typically contains no grammatical subject, but the implied subject is 'you'. Sometimes a subject may be included, particularly in negative imperatives: Don't you dare touch that switch. Sentences such as Let's get out of here!;  Let's kiss and make up, where the implied subject includes the speaker as well as the hearer(s), are also referred to as imperative.
