relative pronoun

relative pronoun (relativpronomen): relative pronouns are used to introduce relative clauses .The English relative pronouns are who, whom, which, that, and Ø (zero). (Norwegian has only two relative pronouns: ‘som’ and Ø.) The relative pronoun refers back to the antecedent of the relative clause. In the relative clause, the relative pronoun represents the antecedent and has the same syntactic function (=subject) as a full noun phrase would have in its place, as shown in (1) and (2).
