situational reference

situational reference (referanse til noe utenfor teksten): reference to something outside the text, e.g. to something in the physical surroundings of the speaker. E.g. Shall I open the window ? (=the window in this room) There is a lot of bad weather in this country (the country in which we live) It takes two hours to fly from here to London. (=from where we are)
